Boat Sailing Theme Handmade Men's Hand Block Printed Indian Soft Cotton Button Down or V Neck Pocket Shirt - Indigo Navy - Anchors Away I874
Casual. Comfortable. Original.
This unique Mumtaz Creations cotton shirt is wearable fiber art for everyday wear. Fashioned in your choice of a traditional button down or v-neck style, the Anchors Away shirt is creatively made from ethnic Indian material.
Anchors Away is light weight and ideal for summer days, sailing, and beach time. This is an original hand-block print from Jaipur, India, where I went to purchase unique fabrics! We spent two years living in India, appreciating the colors, cultures, and textiles.
Hand-block printing uses hand-carved wooden templates, natural dyes, and salt-water rinses. The Indigo printing is a 10 step process. Impressive! The last photo shows a local man teaching me about making fabrics with this ancient handblock process.
So not only is the fabric handmade, the shirt is as well. The collar in each version is lightly stiffened, and the shirt has a left-side chest pocket. Each shirt is professionally made with flat seams, much like a pair of jeans, for lasting wear and comfort.
This durable material will wear well for many years! Light ironing may be required.

** The Large button down has a 1" navy blemish on the back from printing. It is not highly noticeable, but has been discounted accordingly. **
*** A note about Indian Material - all cottons have been prewashed/preshrunk before sewing. Some cottons, particularly hand-printed ones, will bleed slightly in the first couple washes. It is recommended to initially wash your garment in salt water to fix the colors. ***
Indian fabric also may have what others would call "imperfections". Tiny white specks where the ink missed, miniscule snags in this delicate material, chalk marks from the manufacturer, etc. These are not blemishes, but an inherent part of this original, ethnic material. I try to note "marks" when noticeable, and do not sell any significantly damaged items.
Care instructions: Hand wash COLD (initially) to minimize ink bleeding. Hang dry, or tumble low heat.
Custom orders welcomed, as I have plenty of extra material. However, I usually can not duplicate the same color/print since this type of material is not sold in multiples.
Thanks for looking and appreciating my Indian inspired men's shirts!!
